Gifts of Cash: Cash gifts are as easy as writing a check. You may drop off or mail your gift made payable to Hospice of Washington County, Inc. at 747 Northern Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities: Giving appreciated stock is an excellent way to support hospice programs. This type of gift usually qualifies not only for an income tax deduction associated with all charitable gifts, but also eliminates capital gains tax. Bequests: Naming Hospice of Washington County, Inc. in your will may enable you to make a significant contribution and leave a legacy.
When you decide to make a bequest to Hospice of Washington County, Inc., the following language may be useful to your attorney.
You may make a bequest to Hospice of Washington County, Inc. in your will itself or by adding a codicil to your present will. Bequests to Hospice of Washington County, Inc. may be of cash, securities, or other property. Bequests of all sizes are welcome, whether they are outright, contingent, or residual.
Specific Bequest – “I give Hospice of Washington County, Inc., Hagerstown MD 21742, the sum of $________ [to be used by that organization for its general purposes or you may specify the purpose].”

Kass Endowed Scholarship Fund
Benevolent Care

Naming an Endowment – minimum required
Residual Bequest – “I give Hospice of Washington County, Inc., Hagerstown MD 21742, _____ percent of the residue of my estate [to be used by that organization for its general purposes or you may specify the purpose].”
Contingent Bequest – “In the event that ____________________ predeceases me, I give Hospice of Washington County, Inc., the sum of $ _____ (or, alternatively, ______ percent of the residue of my estate) [to be used by that organization for its general purposes or you may specify the purpose].”
Life Insurance Gifts: An often-overlooked asset that can be used to fund a gift is life insurance. You can name Hospice of Washington County, Inc. beneficiary of a policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose or you can buy a new policy for HWC’s benefit.
Charitable Gift Annuity: In addition to a tax deduction, this type of gift also guarantees you a fixed income for life, partially tax-free. The dollar amount that you will receive is determined by your age and the age of any other beneficiary you name at the time of the gift.
