Stepping On is a 7-week program that will be offered by the Washington County Health Department at the Boonsboro Community Life Center beginning on Wednesday, July 11, 2018.
In Washington County, senior citizens falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency department visits, the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations and the third leading cause of injury-related deaths. This program offers a safe and fun environment where adult learners, through exercise, increase their strength and improve their balance with the goal of decreasing falls. In addition local experts including a physical therapist, police officer, pharmacist and vision specialist will discuss ways to prevent injuries associated with falls.
This class is also a good way for seniors to connect with others and provides an opportunity for new friendships. With that in mind, a booster class and class reunion/pot luck luncheon will be held on November 14th.
