Doey's House Suffers Water Damage, Patient Operations Remain Intact

(Hagerstown, MD) -Hospice of Washington County (HWC) officials recently announced that Doey’s House, a 12-bed inpatient facility, has suffered extensive water damage due to a water pipe from the sprinkler system breaking. The affected areas include the children’s play room, library, great room, family dining room, kitchen and front entrance.

“We are extremely fortunate that patient operations areas remain intact and that it did not impact patient care or employee areas,” stated CEO Ernesto Lopez. “The HWC team did a tremendous job of quickly responding and securing the area, preventing even further damage.”

Mr. Lopez went on to state that water remediation services were on-site immediately and have completed the clean-up process. HWC is uncertain how long this section of the building will be inoperable. In areas where water penetrated through wood and wood laminate, it is likely that flooring and woodwork would need to be reinstalled or replaced.

“We thank everyone for assisting us with this incident,” stated Mr. Lopez. “Again, we would like reassure everyone that patient operations remain intact, and we are continuing to provide uninterrupted inpatient hospice services during the restoration of affected areas.”
