Hospice of Washington County Unveils Bold and Exciting New Look to
Accompany Trusted and Valued Services

(Hagerstown, MD) -Hospice of Washington County (HWC) recently launched a new branding and awareness campaign with the initial unveiling of its new logo at their administrative office located at 747 Northern Ave. in Hagerstown. The updated branding delivers a new bold and exciting look for the 38-year-old organization which has been an integral part of our community, serving the end-of-life care needs for thousands of families and patients.

Over the last few years, HWC has been evolving; in 2015 establishing the first community palliative care program in Washington County (LifeCare) and most recently in 2018, opening the first standalone inpatient hospice facility (Doey’s House).

“As our organization has evolved, our mission of serving our community by empowering patients and their families to provide an extraordinary end-of-life experience has stayed in the forefront,” explained HWC’s CEO Ernesto Lopez. “For over many years HWC’s brand remained unchanged and has been recognized in our community as the only trusted and valued provider of hospice services. With the growth of our new programs, our organization felt that it was the right time to update our brand and create a bold new statement that would create great interest and ongoing awareness and recognition of services.”

HWC worked collaboratively over the past few months with the creative team at HighRockTM of Hagerstown to create a new bold and exciting vision that recognizes the organization’s past and positions the organization towards the future. The new logo depicts HWC’s traditional dove in motion, moving forward and carrying an olive branch (which represents life) heading towards the last phase of life, but looking back and reflecting on the life of the individual and all of the wonderful things accomplished and the people whose lives they have impacted.

The launch of the new branding will accompany a strategic awareness campaign that will help people in our community better understand the capabilities and the value of hospice and palliative care services. “There are many patients and families in need within our community that never have the opportunity to experience end-of-life services,” stated Mr. Lopez. “Sometimes it’s simply not knowing, other times it may be fear of the unknown, or maybe the guilt of “giving up.” Our goal is to inform and educate the community and encourage each family to have the difficult conversations with their loved ones and with their medical providers.”

Through the work of HWC’s outpatient palliative care program (LifeCare of Washington County) and the ongoing development of Doey’s House, HWC has the capability of providing a very broad range of post-acute services that start at the beginning of the journey and extend to the very end. “It is our vision to provide each patient and their family with a unique and extraordinary experience,” concluded Mr. Lopez.
