MARSHA KNICELY CELEBRATES HER BIRTHDAY WITH A SPECIAL ART AUCTION FOR DOEY’S HOUSE
Marsha Knicely decided to forego the normal cake, ice cream and balloons for her 70th birthday; and instead, she decided to help others while showcasing her love of art. Therefore, “A Celebration of Art by Marsha and Friends” will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Sagittarius Salon & Spa located at 1136 Conrad Court in Hagerstown. The event will benefit Hospice of Washington County’s Doey’s House.
“I started painting at the Washington County Museum three years ago and traveled to Europe for six weeks in Spain and France, with a Plein Air Artist, Kathie George,” explained Marsha Knicely. “Now I study with Museum Artist Ray Snouffer and Kent Roberts at the Chambersburg Arts Council.” Ms. Knicely went on to explain that she wanted to do a charity event for Doey’s House and incorporate her love for art, and all the wonderful artists that she met along the way to her new life as an artist.”
The fine art auction event will feature 60 art pieces for sale from 20 artists. The art pieces are valued from $50 to a $1,000. Beverages and hors d’oeuves are being served. Along with Ms. Knicely, featured artists include Ray Snouffer, Kent Roberts, and Kathie George a wonderful artist Ms. Knicely has met through her travels. Sponsors for the event are Middletown Valley Bank, Warehouse Tap Room and Dr. Henry Garazo.
“This will be a special celebration of art to celebrate my up and coming 70th birthday,” stated Ms. Knicely.
Hospice of Washington County (HWC) has been offering high quality end-of-life care for over 37 years. Doey’s House is operated by Hospice of Washington County (HWC). The 12-bed inpatient hospice house provides general inpatient, respite care and short-term or residential care for hospice patients. The hospice house is located at 11370 Caring Pathway Lane in Hagerstown. The 16,500 square foot inpatient facility has 12 patient rooms and amenities for patients and families such as one would have their home, including a family dining room, meditation room, library, children’s playroom, great room and sun porch. Each patient room has a private room for families to stay and a private patio.
