Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer with Hospice of Washington County, either working directly with patients and their families or in our office.

COMPANION VOLUNTEERS

visit with patients and/or their families to offer support in a variety of ways:

  • Provide respite for family members so that they may have a few free hours to run errands or just relax;
  • Provide emotional support, a listening ear, or a quiet presence to patients;
  • Assist with transportation or running errands for families;
  • Assist with light housework, laundry, cooking, and yard work.

SPECIAL SERVICE VOLUNTEER

Provide a variety of services to patients, such as haircuts, massage therapy, music therapy, and pet visitation.

BEREAVEMENT VOLUNTEERS

Support families who have lost a loved one. Support is given through phone calls and visits as needed.

SPECIAL EVENT/PROJECT VOLUNTEERS

Support our marketing and development departments at community events and fundraisers, providing education to the community about the services of Hospice of Washington County.

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS

Assist the administrative staff with basic office related tasks, such as making copies, filing, and preparing bulk mailings.
