DoveTales is designed for children (ages 6 - 13) who are coping with the death of a loved one. DoveTales is an educational, nurturing, and safe place for children to share their stories and to meet others "who get it". Campers and families will have the opportunity to learn effective and practical skills for coping with their grief. There is NO cost to attend this annual program. DoveTales 2021 program schedule will be the following: 

 

Kick Off Event (In-Person) - Saturday October 2, 2021

NOTE: All COVID-19 protocols must be followed. All attendees will be screened upon arrival, and asked to wear masks for duration of this event. 

LOCATION: Pediatric Movement Center (1045 Maryland Avenue, Hagerstown MD 21740

TIME: 2 PM - 6 PM 

 

Campers are invited to attend this special event to meet fellow campers and adult volunteers. Hospice of Washington County is excited to partner with the Pediatric Movement Center to facilitate several fun, interactive, creative, and movement activities! Then, each camper will be provided with a personalized care package with all of the materials for the next phase of the program. 

 

Interactive Virtual Learning and Connection - Offered October 3rd - October 22nd. 

 

Campers, families, and volunteers are invited to access a customized online curriculum to continue to connect and engage in grief educational activities. Hospice of Washington County has teamed up with BEACON House Inc again to offer an interactive online program for 3 weeks. Each week will have a creative theme and activity to do at home. 

 

Closing Memorial Ceremony and Reunion (In Person) - Friday October 22, 2021

NOTE: All COVID-19 protocols must be followed. This will be an outdoor event. 

LOCATION: Cornerstone Community Church (20519 Beaver Creek Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740)

TIME: 6 - 8 PM

 

All current and past campers, families, and volunteers are invited to attend this special evening event. Hospice of Washington County is pleased to offer dinner and fellowship, as well as an opportunity for all attendees to create personalized luminaries. The evening will conclude with time for reflection, prayer, and memorialization. The luminaries will be set up to create a memorial walk as the sunsets.  

 

We are also looking for adult volunteers to assist with camp activities and serve as "Big Buddies". All training will be provided, and background checks are required.
