Celebrations: Celebrity Waiter Gala

ANOTHER COURSE FOR CELEBRATIONS

Hospice of Washington County (HWC) put the “fun” in fundraiser last year with the inaugural new unique event entitled Celebrations, and it was so successful we have decided to make it an annual event. The feature of the festivities is a Celebrity Waiter Gala and Auction. Celebrations is really 20 to 30 dinner parties occurring within the larger event. Guests treat themselves to a tasty dinner as they socialize with old friends and make new ones.

The Celebrations Event will be held this year on Friday, October 4th from 5 pm to 10 pm at the Williamsport Banquet Hall at 2 Brandy Drive in Williamsport. “The unique part of this event is the Celebrity Waiters who compete for tips as they try to outdo each other,” stated Cynthia Perini, Co-Chair Celebrations Event. “And when we say celebrities, we are referring to our community celebrities who want to assist Hospice of Washington County.”

As the exclusive licensed provider of hospice care in Washington County, Maryland, HWC’s goal is to surround the patient and their family with a personal team of professionals who know how to manage even the most difficult situations. Hospice of Washington County, Inc. was established in 1980 for the sole purpose of lending support to those facing a terminal illness and their families. HWC was created in 1980 and was a small, all-volunteer organization. HWC has grown into an organization employing nearly serving over 200 patients a day.

Ms. Perini went on to state that tables can outbid other guests or tables for extra amenities during the evening, including raffles and auctions items. “Our guests will be able to bid on auction items, memberships to giving societies and naming opportunities.”

“Waiters will also be able to earn tips by donning crazy clothing items, singing an a cappella version of a latest hit or oldie song, dancing the hula or by any other creative way that the waiter can find as an opportunity,” stated Christy Turner, Co-Chair of the Celebrations Event. “We selected individuals to be the celebrities of this event.”

Along with the waiters, there will be a silent auction. Tickets are $75 per person. “We also have a number of unique sponsorship opportunities for our business and organizations,” stated Ms. Turner “At certain levels, businesses will become part of our corporate giving society, The Redwood Society. This is a great way  for businesses to be part of the event; and simultaneously help Hospice of Washington County.”

Net proceeds from the event will assist the HWC Endowment Fund which was established to assist the vital programs and services of HWC including Doey’s House, and to ensure that HWC will be able to provide end-of-life care and grief support to our community for generations to come.
