Tea, Bags and More!

Would you like to attend an evening tea party, leave with a designer purse and help others in the community?

Tea, Bags and More Event slated for Aug. 13, 2019

“A love for designer purses, tea parties and Hospice of Washington County (HWC) led one woman to create a new fundraising event entitled, “Tea, Bags and More.”

Susan Wood who has served on HWC’s Board of Directors and currently works with the Development Committee came up with a unique idea to raise funds for Hospice of Washington County.

“I love purses and every time I saw a great sale I would buy quite a few at a time, with the idea that I would use most of them for gifts or to donate, which I did for a lot of them,” stated Susan Wood, Chair and Founder of Tea, Bags and More. “One day I realized how many I had accumulated, and my husband wanted his exercise room back. So I asked Karen Giffin at HWC if we could use them for a fundraiser.  I loved having tea parties as a child and thought it would be fun to have one with the purses for an event.”

Tea, Bags and More will be held on Aug. 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Historic Milestown Farm, 10702 Hopewell Road in Williamsport. At the event, each attendee will be treated to a formal and traditional Afternoon Tea Menu with special finger foods and desserts catered by Kitze’s Lounge. And of course, a special variety of teas. Tickets are limited to 100 attendees.

“The main event at this tea party is that each of the 100 attendees will leave with a designer purse,” stated Ms. Wood. “We will   draw names and the first person will have the first choice and the 100th person will receive the remaining purse.”

Ms. Wood went on to say that tea parties became a popular social event in the early 1800s, though there are signs of tea parties occurring earlier. “To this day, tea parties remain an enjoyable and popular pastime, and we are very excited about Tea, Bags and More.”

As the exclusive licensed provider of hospice care in Washington County, Maryland. HWC’s goal is to surround the patient and their family with a personal team of professionals who know how to manage even the most difficult situations. Hospice of Washington County, Inc. was established in 1980 and was a small, all-volunteer organization. HWC has grown into an organization serving over 200 patients a day.

“Hospice of Washington County cared for my father, and personally touched my life,” explained Ms. Wood. “While they cared for my loved one, it was apparent that they cared very much about my well-being and understood what I was going through. I had no idea that hospice would play such a big part in helping my Dad and I through this rough time. I hope that through this event HWC will be able to help other people.”

The event will also feature raffles. Tickets for the event are $125 and can be purchased by calling 301-791-6360 or by going on-line at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/HWC_TeaBagsNMore.
