At the Hospice of Washington County, we are immensely grateful for the time and effort our volunteers put in to help our patients and their families. Volunteers play an important role in quality end-of-life care for patients dealing with a terminal illness. Please check back as dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances, thank you.
Each volunteer orientation will cover the following:
- Hospice of Washington County's goals, services, and philosophy
- Confidentiality, HIPPA, and patient rights
- Family dynamics and coping mechanisms
- Psychological issues surround terminal illness, death, and bereavement
- Emergency procedures including death of a patient
- Supervision guidelines: who and what to report
- Guidance specific to individual responsibilities
