The Hospice of Washington County bereavement department will be hosting a Soaring Doves Teen Program in partnership with the Hagerstown YMCA. Though experiencing a death can be a life-changing event for anyone, adolescence is a crucial period of development. Our Teen Program is designed to meet the unique needs of those 13-18 years of age who have experienced the death of a loved one.
This program is a NEW opportunity for grieving families to connect with other grieving families. Like walking along a path in the outdoors, grief is a journey taken one step at a time. HWC welcomes you to join us on May 20th, June 24th, July 29th , and August 19th at the Hagerstown YMCA to participate in helping you to put one foot in front of the other, literally and figuratively, allowing nature to connect and ground you to the present—as you remember, feel, and grieve.
At the Hospice of Washington County, we are immensely grateful for the time and effort our volunteers put in to help our patients and their families. Hospice of Washington County and Franklin Hospice invite you and your family to join us for a Service of Remembrance honoring the memory of Hospice family members who died between November 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024. Hospice of Washington County's Shred Event of 2024 will be held on Saturday, June 8th, from 9 AM-12 PM at the HWC Main Office. This year is a little different, we are accepting old medications and old electronics (e-waste) on top of paper and documents this year. Come out and shred your papers & donate to our Charity Care Fund! A donation of $10 is suggested per paper box and a donation of $10 is suggested per electrical item. Hospice of Washington County Bereavement Care Department is continuing their support group for those who have experienced the loss of a child. This program is run by Stephanie one time a month on the second Monday of each month starting in January from 3:30 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. This group will meet at the HWC Main Office in the Conference Room. Adults who have experienced a loss of child are invited to come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through shared experience.
The Social Brunch is an opportunity for adults to informally socialize and dine with others who understand and respect your grief journey. Social Brunch gatherings will be offered at a local restaurant 1x/month on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11 AM - 12:30 PM.
