Hearts of Hope (Morning Meeting)

Hearts of Hope is an ongoing open grief support group for any adult who is grieving the death of a loved one. This group meets every month routinely on the following days: 1st and 3rd Mondays (daytime, 10:30 AM - 12 Noon), as well as 2nd and 4th Thursdays (evening, 5:30 PM - 7 PM). PLEASE NOTE: Hearts of Hope (Morning Meeting) will not meet January 1st or September 2nd, 2024.

Cherished Memories: Helping Children & Families Cope with the Death of a Loved One (Smithsburg)

Children and families who have experienced the death of a loved one or friend are invited to attend this event. This free support event will include story time, crafts, and resources on coping with the death of a loved one. Hosted in partnership with Washington County Free Library: Smithsburg Branch. Two days scheduled for 2024: July 8th and August 5th.

Soaring Doves for Teens at the Library (Smithsburg)

The Hospice of Washington County bereavement department will be hosting a Soaring Doves Teen Program at the Washington County Free Library, Smithsburg Branch. Though experiencing a death can be a life-changing event for anyone, adolescence is a crucial period of development. Our Teen Program is designed to meet the unique needs of those 13-18 years of age who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Hearts of Hope is an ongoing open grief support group for any adult who is grieving the death of a loved one. This group meets every month routinely on the following days: 1st and 3rd Mondays (daytime, 10:30 AM - 12 Noon), as well as 2nd and 4th Thursdays (evening, 5:30 PM - 7 PM). Adult Social Brunch

The Social Brunch is an opportunity for adults to informally socialize and dine with others who understand and respect your grief journey. Social Brunch gatherings will be offered at a local restaurant 1x/month on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11 AM - 12:30 PM. Please RSVP by calling Hospice of Washington County Bereavement team at: 301-791-6360, or emailing Mary Diehl at: mdiehl44@aol.com.

Family Grief Mindfulness Walks

This program is a NEW opportunity for grieving families to connect with other grieving families. Like walking along a path in the outdoors, grief is a journey taken one step at a time.  HWC welcomes you to join us on May 20th, June 24th, July 29th, and August 19th at the Hagerstown YMCA to participate in helping you to put one foot in front of the other, literally and figuratively, allowing nature to connect and ground you to the present—as you remember, feel, and grieve.

Three days scheduled for 2024: June 26th, July 31st, and August 21st.

Stepping Stones: An Introduction to Grief Support for Bereaved Adults

Taking the first steps into grief support after the loss of a loved one can be very difficult. Stepping Stones is intended to serve as an introductory to grief support services for adults who have experienced recent loss.
