Volunteer Training

Make a difference by offering invaluable companionship and support! Join our upcoming Volunteer Training Class! October 9 and 16, 8:30am-4:00pm Hospice of Washington County is seeking reliable, compassionate volunteers to make visits to our terminally ill patients and families in their homes or nursing facilities.  Hospice of Washington County, Inc. volunteers are key members of the interdisciplinary team. Celebrations - Celebrity Waiter Gala

The feature of the festivities is a Celebrity Waiter Gala and Auction. Celebrations is really 20 to 30 dinner parties occurring within the larger event. Guests treat themselves to a tasty dinner as they socialize with old friends and make new ones. Overdose Loss Support Group

This group is a six-week closed support group for adults who have lost a loved one to sustance abuse. It begins Wednesday night Sept. 18th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and ends on October 23rd and will be held at our main office at 747 Northern Ave. This group focuses on the many issues that arise whena loved one dies from an overdose. We will discuss the emotional, physical, and spiritual responses to this specific type of grief, as well as explore ways to manage the intensity of the pain...

DoveTales Volunteer Training

Please join us for our DoveTales Volunteer Training on Monday, September 30th at 5:30 p.m. as we prepare for this year's DoveTales camp! All Volunteers for the camp are requested to attend this training.  To apply as a volunteer, please fill out the Volunteer Application and return it to Maria Reed, Bereavement Counselor, by September 13th.

Shred and Shop

This event will offer community residents the opportunity to shred important confidential documents for a suggested donation of $10 per box and/or shop for potential treasures during a simultaneous yard sale. Shredding from 9 a.m. to noon. Event sponsored by First Home Mortgage, Jim Gullace. Call 301-791-6360 or go online to purchase a yard sale spot which is $10/spot!

DoveTales Camp Application Due!

DoveTales designed for children (ages 6-13) who are coping with the death of a loved one. DoveTales is an educational, nurturing, and safe place for children to share their stories and to meet others who “get it.” Campers will have the opportunity to learn effective and practical skills for coping with their grief. There is no cost to attend this annual event. Campers attend one day camp, then are invited to participate in future camp reunion events.

Hearts of Hope - Online

Hospice of Washington County (HWC) is continuing to serve the community with Bereavement Services. HWC will host the Hearts of Hope Group via Zoom (an online video chat platform). Hearts of Hope is an on-going, open support group available to any adult who has experienced a death of a loved one.
